WILDOMAR, CALIF. — John Gentile, MD has been appointed Chief Medical Officer at Southwest Healthcare System, operator of Inland Valley Medical Center and Rancho Springs Medical Center. In his new role, Dr. Gentile will oversee System Quality Performance and Patient Safety Plans at both hospitals, promote service excellence philosophies and behavior within the hospitals and provide leadership in promoting best practices in clinical care, quality and safety.

"He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that is exceptional in every way to support our hospital and medical staff." Dr. Gentile joins Southwest Healthcare from Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, a four-campus medical center with 1,900 physicians and 1,100 licensed beds. There, he served as their Vice President of Medical Affairs and earned the 2010 Physician Partnership Award from The Advisory Board.

Dr. Gentile's experience also includes roles as Director of Emergency Medicine and Vice President of Medical Affairs at other facilities. He attended medical school at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara A.C. in Mexico and served as Chief Resident at Pontiac General Hospital in Michigan. He also earned an MBA in Medical Management from the University of California Irvine. Dr. Gentile is board certified in family practice medicine, and is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and The Advisory Board, Strategic Product Advisory Council.
